The much-anticipated horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla is all set to hit theatres on April 17, bringing back the iconic collaboration between Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan after nearly 14 years. The film has already created strong buzz, not just for its nostalgic value but also for its ensemble cast featuring Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jisshu Sengupta.
Mounted on an estimated budget of around ₹120 crore, the film is considered a significant project for Akshay Kumar, who is aiming for a solid box-office comeback. Interestingly, the actor reportedly reduced his upfront fee to support the film’s budget. While he usually commands much higher pay, reports suggest he charged approximately ₹50 crore for Bhooth Bangla, which still accounts for a substantial portion of the overall production cost.
There are also varying reports about his remuneration structure. Some sources claim Akshay took a lower upfront fee of around ₹18 crore but secured a massive 70% share in the film’s profits as a co-producer, making his overall earnings potentially much higher depending on the film’s success.
As for the rest of the cast, Tabu is said to have earned around ₹2–2.5 crore for her role, while Paresh Rawal reportedly received close to ₹2 crore. Wamiqa Gabbi’s remuneration is estimated between ₹1 crore and ₹3 crore depending on the report, and Rajpal Yadav is believed to have charged somewhere between ₹75 lakh and ₹1 crore.
The film’s story revolves around a man who inherits a mysterious palace in a rural town. What begins as a wedding preparation soon turns eerie as supernatural events unfold, forcing him to uncover the dark secrets tied to the property.
With a mix of comedy, horror, and a strong cast, Bhooth Bangla is expected to deliver both entertainment and box-office impact.
